Docking your RV short term

Updated: Aug 25, 2024

Whether you're staying for a couple days or a couple of weeks, it is important to review the general operations regarding RV'ing:

  • Remember to secure the RV or travel trailer with chocks or a tire locking system before settling in to prevent roll away accidents.

  • Ensure you are connecting to the correct electrical outlet that your RV requires. If you have a 30amp but are docking to a 50amp, make sure you have the right adapter!

  • Confirm water fittings and adapters are rated to the correct water pressure, this will prevent blowouts and leaks depending on your set up.

  • Remember to close your propane tank lines if you are not using it! Purging lines also prevent corrosion in your RV's gas lines.

  • ONLY USE AND FLUSH RV approved toilet paper for disposal. Never put any other products down the drain, this not only clogs sewage systems but can also damage and settle in your RV's black water tank. Keep the valves closed to your gray and black water tanks until you are ready to dump.

  • Monitor your RV's sensors and breakers, this your RV's way of telling you something is wrong!

  • Leave A/C's, water heaters, and furnaces off if you are not using them. By doing this, you are prolonging your RV's systems and also saving electricity. A win/win!

  • Close your RV patio cover if you are not using it. Windstorms or strong gulf breezes can seriously damage your awning.
